  A Moment of Reflection

Vero Beach is such a great city - we have the sun, the ocean, and the lovely people in this town. In the August issue of Florida Travel & Life

Life is an interesting journey; one never knows what lies ahead.

Newly divorced, I was a Realtor in Virginia Beach, VA while raising my only child Anthony. December 31, 1996 would forever alter my life. While visiting Graham, Anthony (aged 16 1/2) transitioned (passed over) instantly along with three teenagers (Graham Miller, Brian Bass, and Jonathan Sklar) in an automobile crash in Tampa, FL. Meanwhile Dominic was busy raising his son Joshua.

Descending into an abyss that fateful day; life as I knew it no longer existed. Just as Anthony experienced a death / rebirth - so did I. Anthony's transition was the catalyst for my conscious spiritual journey. Unaware that my soul had shrunk for many years, my sacred core enabled me to survive the most horrific experience of my life. My awareness (consciousness) expanded as I struggled to keep my heart open.

Finally I read There is a River - the story about Edgar Cayce - a book which sat on my shelf for over nine years. Reading this book solidified my belief in the soul and its journey. Edgar Cayce's work and the A.R.E. (Association for Research and Enlightenment located in Virginia Beach) saved my life along with angels and some earth angels encouraging me to keep moving forward - step by painful step.

A friend suggested I receive Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) treatments. Reiki is a type of energy healing.  The Reiki sessions were amazing.  I felt myself relax and release discordant emotions while feeling its loving energy work on me.

While attending an A.R.E. conference, a fellow conferee recommended that I learn Reiki for myself. She explained that self-treatments would assist me on my journey of healing (wholeness). I received First and Second Degree Reiki in 2000. The self treatments really help keep my heart open, assisting me in removing disharmony from loving myself and others.

Reiki's amazing energy raised my vibration (frequency level) and awareness of the divinity in all. Reiki's unconditional love assisted me in keeping my heart open while dealing with the Anthony's passing.  I received Third Degree Reiki (Master Level) in 2001.  I am very honoured and grateful for this precious gift bestowed upon me.

Next I began taking courses through the A.R.E's Atlantic University with my dear friend Karen. Through a mentor, I learned of a course called Meet Yourself at Mullingstorp Health and Education Centre in Sweden. www.mullingstorp.com/english Intuitively I knew I had to take this course.

I took the Meet Yourself course in 2001. My roommate in the course and her husband had just learned about their friend Dominic's son's passing. Dominic's son Joshua passed away February 10, 2001. Josh (aged 19) also transitioned from an automobile crash. Initially Dominic and I began with phone calls and emails - two souls reaching out to one another while experiencing the dark night of the soul. When Dominic and I first spoke on the phone, he was in the early stages of grief and shock.

While Dominic had studied world religions and philosophies for many years, Josh's passing was the catalyst for his conscious spiritual journey.

Dominic participated in the Meet Yourself course and I returned as an assistant in November of 2001. Upon completion of the Meet Yourself course, we fully embraced life and opened our hearts to one another.

Dominic also took Reiki I, Reiki II, and became a Reiki Master.

I took my second Reiki Master class in 2005 from William Rand who is the president of The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). In 2006 I took the Karuna Reiki® Master course with William Rand, Laurelle Gaia, and Michael Baird and am licensed to teach Karuna Reiki® through the ICRT. Karuna is a Sanskrit word meaning compassionate action which comes from an unbounded sea of love. Karuna Reiki® can be defined as Reiki of Compassion.

Next I took Gendai Reiki-Ho Master class with Hiroshi Doi in Fall 2006 in Canada. Doi-Sensei is a member of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai (the Japanese Reiki society founded by Usui Mikao) and created a Reiki system based on eastern and western Reiki. Being with Doi-Sensei and Hyakuten-Sensei was truly a gift for me. I fully embraced my Japanese heritage as well as coming full circle as a Reiki teacher. Wow, it was awesome!

I (Patricia) am a Center Licensed Teacher with The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT).  Reiki continues to be a sacred gift for us jointly and individually.

Who would have known that two separate life-altering experiences would bring us together? Dominic and I were divinely brought together through the passing of our sons. We truly are a match made in heaven.

We exquisitely know that life is very fragile. We also know love transcends time and space. When the universe calls, we do our best to show up. Our sons have shown us that life is truly a precious gift and to be present with one another is one of life's greatest gifts. We are grateful for everything Life offers.

Dominic is a native Floridian. We moved to Vero Beach to be near his parents.

The Inspired Heart embodies the four of us - Dominic, Patricia, Joshua, and Anthony.

In Loving Memory:

Joshua Homer Williams

Bless you, our sons, for the gifts you have given us. We are grateful to have been your earthly parents. We are grateful to be on this journey of expanding our consciousness and hearts. Thank you for being Lightworkers and for showing us the Way.

Patricia and Dominic

p.s. This is a poem I received anonymously in the mail a few days after Anthony's birth.  It was typewritten with no note and no return address.

A Child Of Mine (To All Parents)

I will lend you, for a little time,

A child of mine, He said.

For you to love the while he lives,

And mourn for when he's dead.

It may be six or seven years,

Or twenty-two or three.

But will you, till I call him back,

Take care of him for Me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you,

And should his stay be brief.

You'll have his lovely memories,

As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay,

Since all from earth return.

But there are lessons taught down there,

I want this child to learn.

I've looked the wide world over,

In search for teachers true.

And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,

I have selected you.

Now will you give him all your love,

Nor think the labour vain.

Nor hate me when I come

To take him home again?

I fancied that I heard them say,

'Dear Lord, Thy will be done!'

For all the joys Thy child shall bring,

The risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shelter him with tenderness,

We'll love him while we may,

And for the happiness we've known,

Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for him,

Much sooner than we've planned.

We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,

And try to understand.
