Reiki Principles (Kyogi) / Five Precepts (or Gokai)

Kyo dake wa  (Today only)
Ikaru-na  (Do not anger)
Shinpai suna  (Do not worry)
Kansha shite  (Be grateful / appreciate)
Gyo wo hage me  (Work diligently)
Hito ni shinsetsu ni  (Be kind to others)

I - Just for today, I will let go of anger. Anger at others or oneself or at the whole world, creates serious disharmony in one's energy. It is a most complex inner violence. Reiki is an excellent tool to remove discordant energy which has accumulated in the body over years. By letting go of the past, this principle assists us in being fully present in the moment. All we have is the present moment anyway.
Letting go of anger brings Peace into the Mind.

II - Just for today, I will let go of worry. While anger deals with past events, worry deals with future ones. Although worry is not always a disharmonious phenomena, endless worries may fill one's head, and each worry can bore a small hole in one's body and soul. Most times, the things we worry about do not actually come to fruition. When we are in worry mode, we are unable to be present in the moment. This principle once again reminds us to be in the present moment.
Letting go of worry brings Healing into the Body.

III - Just for today, I will be grateful. Be grateful from your heart. Inner intention is the important element in this principle. Simple things such as giving thanks, forgiveness, smiles, kind words, and gratitude can improve your life and bring happiness and joy. Take time each day to express gratitude for all you have in your life. A heart filled with gratitude expands.
Most of all, be kind and gentle to yourself.
Being Grateful brings Joy into the Spirit.

IV - Just for today, I will devote myself to my work. Be earnest in your work - whatever work you happen to be doing - whether it's cleaning your bathroom, preparing dinner, or weeding and pruning your yard. Being earnest means being fully immersed in the work you are doing at that moment rather than thinking about something else you'd rather be doing. Perhaps the job you are currently doing is less fulfilling for you presently, however by being grateful for your work can create the space for doing what you love to do. Are you applying your talents and abilities?
Another aspect of this principle is devotion to your spiritual work; honoring and nurturing your spirit. Do self-treatments daily; make yourself a priority.
Being Earnest in one's Work brings Abundance into the Soul.

V- Just for today, I will honour every living thing. Honour (through kindness) all beings of the Universe including plants, animals, minerals, our Mother Earth, and fellow divine human beings and especially ourselves. Honouring all living things creates unity. Remember: we are all One.
Being Kind brings Love into the Will.
